Artist Statement

When I was younger, I would draw all the time. Growing up was difficult, there were many challenges that made me fall out of love with art. In 2019, I picked up art again, particularly painting. I used it as a way to escape the everchanging world I was definitely dealing with a doom mindset. I work with multiple mediums, such as acrylic paint, oil paint, and colored pencils. I use vibrant colors as a way to escape from reality on days when I see only black and white. Many of my paintings have elements of surrealism, as well as themes related to religion, since my family is very religious. My art tells the story of my exploration of different religions, as well as my attempt to escape the harsh realities of my childhood and reconnect with my inner child.
